We went to the oldest restaurant in the WORLD!

I just realized this certificate is written in English. Hahahaha it's a Spanish restaurant in Spain and the certificate is in English?! What?! 

We were on a walking tour so we couldn't go in and eat but I will very soon! It sounds amazing!!

Madrid is amazing!

I am so happy that I am in Madrid.  I love this city! The first job I was offered was in a small city and I could have settled but I didn't want to! I'm so happy I found a job in Madrid. It's where I've always wanted to live! It's been a good day! Usually I kind of freak out when I arrive somewhere but I haven't! I figured I would since I will be here until July, it's such a long time!  I've met a few new friends and I'm having a good time. I'm in Spain! I love Spain and I have since the first time I came here in 2006. This is my third time in Spain but my first time in Madrid. 

Madrid has 3 million people but the city isn't really that big...which really surprised me. We walked around today and it's a lot smaller than I expected. I didnt see the entire city today but I can tell it's small.

It's my first morning in Madrid!

I just woke up in Madrid. My iPad says its 1:55am Kansas City time.  I already feel like I am on Madrid time.  Although I miss my cats and my family, I know that I am in the right place for me right now.  I feel very happy that I am finally here and that this will be my new home for 11 months.  I've made a new friend already and I hope to make many more! 

Well, I need to get in the shower.  I have an appointment to see an apartment WITH A CAT in about an hour and a half.  

I want to live with a cat, and someone who speaks French if possible.  I must live with a cat though! My soul needs it!

It's 2:11 am Kansas City time

It's 2:11 am Kansas City time but I'm watching the sunrise from a plane in Spain! I'm in an aisle seat, so I can't get a good picture of the sun.  The captain said we are over Portugal. :) This won't publish right away because I don't have wifi on the plane :( I slept well but it's freezing ok this plane! I have been shivering for hours but I'm want the Spanish call a "friolenta", lol, I'm a person who is cold all of the time!

Mountains of Portugal/Spain!

I got up to go to the bathroom and saw the mountains!

I'll be on the plane in 24 hours!

I'll be on the plane to Dallas in 24 hours! I woke up this morning and that was the first thing I thought of.  Am I nervous? Yes.  But I am more excited than anything!  It will be amazing.  Once I get settled and find a place to live, I know it will be great!

3 days!

I'm running last minute errands and I'm looking at Kansas City in a different way.  I'm starting to miss it while I am still here! I was on the plaza this morning and I took one long look as I drove away.  I will miss blaring music and singing in the car and driving fast on the highway. I am making a mental list of the foods I want to eat before I leave: cheese pizza and chipotle top the list!  I'm also addicted to the coke slushy at quiktrip...and quiktrip doesn't exist in Spain!  What will I do?!

The countdown has begun! 

Making appointments is so exciting!

I am leaving a few days early for Spain. I'm leaving this Saturday morning so I just have 4 days left in America! I can't believe how fast time went by! I'm making appointments with people in Madrid to see apartments! It's so amazing!! :) 

I leave in a week!

I can't believe how fast time has gone by.  I'm filled with mixed emotions, mostly good of course!  I teared up today talking with my 6 year old niece.  She told me she didn't want me to go and I felt sad that I won't be here for her.  It's only for a year.  I can talk to her anytime.  We have a strong bond.  She will be okay here.  I've noticed that she is more clingy lately and I know it's because she doesn't want me to leave.  We are having a "girl's day" tomorrow.  I'm looking forward to it :)

My visa arrived today!

My visa arrived today!  It's official now!  I can't believe I'm going to move to Spain in 3 weeks!  I'm so excited!
